Traditional Boarding School

A traditional boarding school is a residential private school with its own designed curriculum focused on college preparation. Traditional boarding schools offer a vast array of opportunities to engage academically, socially and athletically and provide predictable and all-encompassing structure that many students benefit from. Junior Boarding Schools typically cater to students in graded 5-9 and many high schools serve students in grades 8/9 through 12th / Post Graduate (PG).

Specialty Boarding School

A specialty boarding school can be organized around a particular ethos (i.e. military, single-sex, experiential, athletes, post-graduate) or can be targeted to serve specific needs (for students with social deficits or attention-related concerns). Specialty boarding schools offer more specialized instruction to target the needs of their specific niche.

Learning Disability (LD) Boarding Schools

Learning Disability (LD) Boarding Schools specialize in addressing specific learning disabilities through remediation, small group instruction and accommodations that are embedded into the daily programming of the school.  Learning Disability schools are equipped to work with diagnoses such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, specific learning disabilities in writing and/or math and ADD/ADHD. These schools have proficient, highly credentialed staff to help their students realize their potential and experience success in an academic environment.

Summer Opportunities

Many boarding schools offer summer programs specifically designed to serve targeted populations. Schools may offer programs that focus on academic enrichment, extra-curricular opportunities, English as a Second Language (ESL), sport-focused opportunities or credit recovery.  For a more hesitant student, summer experiences on boarding school campuses can allow a student to experience what it may be like to attend school away from home year-long.
